Automated Demand Response USA
(ADRUSA)
As a critical component of the Virtual Power Plant ™, ADRUSA ™ uses a self-healing Smart Grid technology solution implementing Artificial Intelligence to offer maximum control of energy usage while reducing demand for power during peak usage periods. The result is a curtailment program that will have the greatest benefit for your companys bottom line. Americas power grid and its geographically-positioned Independent System Operators (ISOs) oversee a truncated network of energy utility companies and community aggregators who interface with retail customers. ADRUSA compensates the client based on the amount of electricity they are directed to reduce thus turning expenses into a new revenue resource. This includes monitoring and performance, Measurement and Verification (M&V), and engineering.
ADRUSA is designed to:
- Maximize Demand Response Revenues
- Contribute to a significant reduction in Energy use
- Major Savings, up to 30%-40% in some cases
- Accommodate Power Grid Reliability and Stability
- Carbon Footprint retrenchment
- Promote Worldwide Environmental Benefits
Facilities: 24/7 Energy Savings
A case in point: most energy consultants know that HVAC represents approximately 40% of the electricity used in a commercial building. However, many of these same people fail to realize that lighting also represents approximately the same amount of energy usage (30%-40%). Indeed, ADRUSA works together with highly specialized equipment that saves up to 18% on electricity usage. (No reduction in voltage to the light fixture and negligible lumen loss of +5%). Additionally, it allows 33% to 67% of the lighting load to be reduced in order to earn money through demand response.
With ADRUSA, engineers and facility operators are able to determine which equipment (electrical, lighting, HVAC, pumps, and/or mechanical) can participate in a call for a demand response event. This event is described as a specific period of time when the ISO or utility calls for load curtailment from its program participants. ADRUSA receives an internet-based signal from the curtailment provider, and manages the Building Automation System (BAS) that can include a single or several discrete systems under the same roof.
Insurance for the ISO
When this same event becomes excessive, for example, during the hottest part of the summer, ADRUSA becomes an insurance policy for the ISO allowing them to reserve energy demand when electricity approaches available supply.
